Description: With the aim of improving the sustainable management of its forest resources, the Republic of Congo engaged in 2008 in the negotiation of a Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) for the application of forest regulations, governance and trade (FLEGT in English acronym for Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade) with the European Union. The agreement officially entered into force on 1.3.2013.
The Republic of Congo's VPA's Legality Verification System (SVL) is made up of six elements, including an independent audit. Since 2015, an Independent System Auditor (AIS) has been present in the Republic of Congo with the aim of ensuring the performance and efficiency of the legality verification system being implemented. The previous contract having expired in 2019, this contract aims to mobilize a new independent auditor.
